Update from/about Seung

Hello, this is Seung.  I hope that you enjoyed Esther's blog post.  If you still haven't read it, I ask you to read it.

I have received six chemo sessions so far.  My last one was on August 14.  What happened since then?

  • My weight barely changed (153.1 to 153).  Maybe I will have to eat more.
  • My CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) are down to under 3000.  The normal range is 0 to 5.  Mine is at 3000, a long way to go
  • I really don't like having the pump (chemo that I come home with) for 48 hours.  I'm getting used to it, but can't wait to take it off every time.
  • I had more energy to help around the house.
  • But my hands and tongue were very sensitive to cold.  I tried eating ice cream the day after chemo and it felt like getting poked on the tongue with a knife.
  • I look very different with much less hair.
  • My brother went back and my another brother is visiting soon.
  • My seventh chemo session is on August 28.

Some gratitudes include:

  • My friends who schedule and show up for visits
  • Having enough energy to pick up our first son from school, play Uno with our second son, and hold our third son
  • Having enough energy to play whiffle ball with my two older sons for two hours
  • Seeing how much our older two sons enjoy our nightly routine of reading the Bible and praying (maybe it's just me)
  • A letter with encouraging words from a pastor
  • A card (with pictures) from my former youth kid
  • Being invited to play in futbol and football fantasy leagues
  • Many different ways to eat 돼지갈비
  • My church family praying for me and my family

Prayer Requests

  1. C started school.  It has been an adjustment for everyone at home.  Please pray that he will learn to be a good neighbor at school and to grow in the understanding of the world as a Christian.
  2. My treatment - My wife and I decided to keep the 3-med chemo until 12 sessions.  Initially, it was planned only until 8 sessions.  It means that (thankfully) I am handling the treatment well.  Please pray that the treatment will do what it is designed to do and I will receive it well.
  3. Strength for family - My family (including my in laws) are all in with my treatment.  It is physically, mentally, and spiritually draining.  Please pray for their all-around well being.

Off to my seventh session. Until next time.
